For my 7th photo assignment, I used pictures that I took from Senior Grammy night. Here's my best photo: For the edited picture, I decreased the blacks and highlights, while increasing the whites and contrast. I added a frame around the image as well. Here are some other pictures I took: Overall, I had fun taking these pictures and I look forward to taking more event based pictures in the future.

For the 5th photo assignment, I chose to do animal photos. I took these on prom night at my girlfriend's grandparents house. Here my best photo before edits: I cropped this image so it fit rule of birds better. I also decreased the exposure, highlights, and shadows, while I increased the clarity and contrast. These chickens were truly excellent models to work with and I look forward to working with them more. Here are some other pictures I took of these cluckers:
For our 3rd photo assignment, I took pictures of basketball games that were played on the weekends of March 11th and March 18th. I decreased the highlights and the exposure and increased the contrast. I also added a layer mask to the basketball and the 2 basketball players and used a hue/saturation filter to the background. Here's the result: Here are the rest of the photos I took for this set: I really enjoyed taking these pictures and it taught me a lot about motion in general. I look forward to taking more pictures in the future.
For this photo assignment, I chose the topic of architecture. Recently, I went to Chicago, so the pictures in this set are from Chicago. Before I made edits, this is what my best picture looked like: I made some edits to the exposure, which I increased, while I decreased the highlights and shadows. I also increased the clarity and put a frame around the image. Here are the rest of the best images that I took while I was in Chicago. I'm going back to Chicago over the summer and have noticed things that I could have improved on so I will look to improve the images that I take of this great town once I return.
For this assignment, we had to photoshop to use photoshop to frame pictures that we took. This first frame I did was one with a black outline. The second one I did was this leaf type affect around the border. I used a layer mask and a black background to make this frame. The next frame I did was using a different background color and making a sort of smoke-like cutout. The final frame I did was similar to my last frame, but I made it look like they were fading away in this frame. I learned some cool framing ideas from this project that I hope to use in my later work. I really enjoyed this project and look forward to doing more in the future.
For this assignment, we had to take pictures including different elements of composition.
Here is my example of principle of design.
I learned a lot about what it takes to make a great photograph in this assignment and I look forward to using these elements in my later photography work.
So for this assignment. we had to take picture that had an emphasis on color. Here's my best picture before I edited it: I cropped the image a bit, used a layer mask to preserve the orange color to the cones, and then added a black and white filter to the rest of the image. The result looked like this: I learned how to use black and white in photoshop better from this assignment. I thought it was enjoyable.
Hopefully I'll have more motivation next time to go out and take pictures. I feel like just yesterday I came into this class with excitement to be able to learn more about photography, to be able to take stunning photos and to be able to learn the ways to make a picture outstanding. After 12 weeks, I really can say that I have learned quite a lot over the time I spent in this class and have improved my ability to take great photos by quite a lot. While I don't think I was too bad at taking pictures before coming into this class, as I learned some elements of composition through digital photography and seeing works of other, what I really felt like I learned was the technical side of it. I became very familiar with my DSLR due to this class teaching me things like exposure, aperture, ISO, etc. I personally really like a lot of the images I took at the beginning of the trimester, but I definitely noticed quite a significant difference in how many pictures I had to take to be able to get 10 good pictures both now and then. In my first photo set, which has two of my favorite images I've ever taken in it, I noticed how some of my images are very boring. This one is one that definitely doesn't do a good job at capturing the subject. While the lighting is good on this image, how the camera is angle is not good. It doesn't really show what it is and doesn't capture it well. I definitely have improved on that ability. The picture below was taken from my 4th set. In this image, the subject, the flag, is clearly the main thing in the frame and you can easily see what it is. It isn't shot from a bad angle and is easily identifiable. I definitely improved in that area and hope to be able to continue to make progress to make better pictures. Another area that I improved on was my ability to shoot image when there is a high amount of contrast. In the Composition Assignment, I shot this image. It just doesn't look great. It is very boring and you can still see the inside of the building. I have improved on this ability and made my images contrast better. This image I took for my 4th set, which I personally think is my best set. The bright areas really contrast well with the dark areas, which cause for a really nice effect on the image. The difference between these 2 images show how far I've improved in this area.
Overall, I really enjoyed this class and I really thought it was extremely beneficial to me as a photographer. I have developed a love for taking pictures and I plan on continuing to pursue this hobby into the future, as well into Digital Photography II. Thank you for all the help and advice you gave me about Photoshop, my camera, and about photography overall. This photoshop assignment was pretty neat. After Mr. Bush taught us a lesson about how to use panning to motion pictures, a technique I didn't know about, we went out and took pictures of him on his bike. My pictures didn't come out the best, so I need to try to improve my ability to pan while taking motion pictures. Here was my best one after I added a black and white effect to the background and a layer mask, which I learned about in the Multiple Me photoshop. I learned a lot about how to take motion pictures with this assignment and I really enjoyed doing it. I like the photoshop that I made to and I thought it looked good. I'm a bit sad that this is the last photoshop assignment of the trimester, but it ended the trimester on a high note.
For this project, we were assigned with taking multiple pictures of ourselves at the same camera angle to make it look like there are multiple versions of yourself in a photograph. For mine I decided to make it Hornet Nation themed. Here is the picture I made. For the assignment, we all had to add our own personal touch to the photograph, so it didn't look like it came straight out of the camera. I really debated what I was going to do to change this image, but I finally came up with an idea. I really enjoyed this assignment and I want to go out and take a lot more of these. I think I could take some really entertaining pictures of me with this style. This lesson taught me quite a bit more about photoshop and how layer masks work, so I am very thankful that I was able to try out this assignment.
